Based on Joan­ne’s exten­sive research and first­hand inter­views of Jew­ish women who fought the Nazis and sur­vived, Women of Val­or pro­vides per­son­al and his­toric con­text to show that the Jews did not only not go ​“silent­ly like sheep ” but that deter­mined young Jew­ish women active­ly defied the Nazis — and sur­vived — liv­ing pro­duc­tive, lov­ing, Jew­ish lives com­mit­ted to Holo­caust edu­ca­tion well into their eight­ies and nineties.
