Aviva L. Brown
Aviva Brown is a Jewish mama of four wild animals, who sometimes resemble children. She lives in North Carolina with them, her husband, and two lazy house cats.
After being a stay-at-home-parent for 11 years, Aviva thought publishing an illustrated children’s book would be a great idea. Surprise! It was a great idea!
The idea came when she noticed a lack of dark-skinned, Jewish children in the books her kids read each night. She now writes books about Jews of Color, different types of Jewish families, and every day Jewish life.
Her first title, Ezra’s BIG Shabbat Question was released in July 2019. Her second title, Ora: Summer Camp Stowaway, will be released in early spring 2020.
Aviva’s hobbies include: reading children’s books, shirking housework, listening to teeny-bopper music from the early aughts, and dancing like no one is watching – even though sometimes someone is watching.
