The Garden of Eden and Other Criminal Delights is a collection of short stories written by renowned mystery writer Faye Kellerman. Some of the stories include the familiar characters of Peter Decker and Rina Lazarus. Two were written in collaboration with three of the author’s four children, including her son Jesse Kellerman, whose first novel, Sunstroke, was published this year. Also included are two very personal non-fiction essays.

As a fan of the author’s novels, I must admit that I found that the short story format did not allow for the character development, exploration of social issues and plot twists that I have become accustomed to. However, I’m sure that Faye Kellerman fans will enjoy the variety of tales that are told and the author’s introductions to each story.

Naomi Tropp recently retired after a long career in nonprofit management. She worked on the Ann Katz Festival of Books at the Indianapolis JCC for 9 of its twelve years and directed the festival for three of those years.
