David “DJ” Javerbaum is one of the funniest writers in America you’ve never heard of. He has won 11 Emmys for his work as Head Writer and Executive Producer of The Daily Show. He wrote the opening numbers for both the Tony and Emmy Award shows in 2011. And his new book is a collaboration with God called The Last Testament. It’s God’s memoir, and it’s a real telleth-all.
Reviewers have been raving about the book: a bawdy circus of theological vaudeville…This Lord is a Lord hungry for laugh (Washington Post); There are enough laughs here, not to mention a dazzling underlying knowledge of theology, to give plenty of props to Javerbaum (Booklist); and The Last Testament is fearless…a recklessly funny set of gags about all things religious and quite a few things secular too (New York Times).
As the earth He has godded so magnificently draws to a Mayan-induced close, God breaks his 1,400-year literary silence. From the creation of the universe to jeggings, the Lord Almighty has been a pivotal player in nearly all the major decisions of the past 20 epochs, and he spillith here for the first time.
