Patri­cia Bern­stein is an author, his­to­ri­an and pub­li­cist liv­ing in Hous­ton. She has man­aged her own pub­lic rela­tions firm since 1983, and has pub­lished numer­ous arti­cles in such venues as Texas Month­ly, Cos­mopoli­tan and The Smith­son­ian. This book is her third. Her pre­vi­ous book was ​“The First Waco Hor­ror: the Lynch­ing of Jesse Wash­ing­ton and the Rise of the NAACP.”
