Dr. Alla Shapiro, M.D., Ph.D trained as pediatric hematologist in Kiev, Ukraine. She headed the field team surveying the medical effects on children in the Chernobyl vicinity. Dr. Shapiro completed recertification and relicensing in the United States. She served as a Medical Officer in the Division of Oncology Drug Products (DODP) Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, Food and Drug Administration from 2000 – 2003. From 2003 to 2019 Dr. Shapiro served as a Medical Officer as a member of the Counter-Terrorism and Emergency Coordination Staff, Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER), US Food and Drug Administration. Dr. Shapiro is a subject matter expert in Special Review Boards and Special Emphasis Panels. She has presented at numerous scientific and public forums, domestic and international. She has also co-authored multiple scientific publications. In August 2019, Dr. Shapiro retired from federal service. She currently works as a Consultant and Advisory Board member for the two pharmaceutical companies.
