Brumm lived in Israel for fifteen years. A PhD in Comparative Literature, she taught in the Department of Foreign Literatures at BenGurion University. A previous novel/memoir, Come Drink Coffee With Me – Husband Hunting in Israel (1994) surveyed the singles scene and a poetry collection, Last Exit to Peace (2000) portrayed the socio-political area. An award-winning poet, she also writes about literature and the independent cinema.
