Bobbi Kornblit’s novel, Shelter from the Texas Heat, won the 2013 Multicultural-fiction Indie Excellence Award and the Best Book in Women’s Fiction for the 2012NABE Pinnacle Book Achievement Award. The novel with a Jewish twist blends the tales of three generations of women, from the Kennedy “Camelot Years” to the present. Set in Dallas and Austin, the themes are universal: prejudice and family relationships — tempered with plenty of humor and a dash of Yiddish. The book has been compared in reviews to The Help. Kornblit graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and holds a Masters from KSU.
