This book is about the everyday common usage of Yiddish and Jive, specifically the Yiddish and Jive words historically and presently used on TV, in movies, books, radio, in advertising, and just about everywhere. This book is not a dictionary of Yiddish and Jive words. Both Yiddish and Jive to some extent reflect the underlying spirit of two peoples who have faced innumerable adversities. Historically, Jews and black Americans have been involved in a long-time special relationship — sometimes positive and sometimes negative — sometimes as an alliance and unfortunately sometimes in conflict. Perhaps both communities will find some additional commonalities that could bring them closer together while being more understanding and respectful of one another.
