Mari­ia Kolk­er was born and raised in Moscow. She grad­u­at­ed from Moscow State Uni­ver­si­ty of Print­ing Arts and has been cre­at­ing books as both an illus­tra­tor and an author ever since. When­ev­er she can, she vis­its her grand­moth­er in Israel.
