Susan Lerner practiced law teaches writing is an author and in her spare time gets out of her comfort zone by performing comedy improv. She has written non-fiction including family and business histories (specializing in immigrant stories). Her fiction includes short stories, several of which were included in literary magazines. Her first novel, A Suitable Husband, set in pre-war Poland amidst the Zionist youth groups of the period. Her first novel A Suitable Husband explores the political youth groups in prewar Poland through the experiences of a young Jewish woman caught between the pressures of her traditional parents and those of her radical political group. She also believes in the value of journaling both for remembering the many remarkable things that happen every day as well as for the health benefits of focusing on the funny entertaining or enchanting events that occur in our daily lives. When she found too many people had excuses for not keeping a record of their family stories she wrote a short how-to book called The Journal Project: Capturing the Magic of Family Life through Stories. Susan lives near New York City with her husband and spends winter vacations in South Florida. Her grown son has great talent as a writer but pursued computer science instead. Go figure.
